I recently acquired a few CDs, but none of the computers around me have a CD drive anymore. So I suddenly had the idea of getting a CD player, hoping for a retro, non-phone-connected, non-internet-dependent (even non-electric) way to listen to music directly by just putting in a CD.
- First, I came across the CD player from Saitalin, but I gave up on it because I instinctively didn't trust its internet-famous design.
- Then I thought of the MUJI CD player that I used to like, but now I find its design a bit dull.
I still prefer technologically advanced playback devices, and I finally found two small ones that caught my eye:
- Shanling's EC mini, priced at 1997, has more comprehensive features, but it's a bit heavy.
- Moondrop's Dream Disc Portable CD Player, priced at 999, reportedly faced production difficulties and won't be available until the end of February.
While reading the reviews of Moondrop's player, someone mentioned Shanling's CD1.2 player, saying it's great in all aspects and if portability isn't a concern, this one is definitely a good choice, and I glanced at the price again, 3888, and it's already discontinued (the more I look at it, the more expensive it gets).
Moreover, the more expensive the player, the less likely it is to have built-in speakers, so you need to connect headphones and speakers to play music, and I have to continue researching headphones and speakers. The pit is getting deeper.
I'll continue to observe and get into the hobby sooner, and get out of it sooner!
